The highly anticipated international film event, the “97th Academy Awards,” took place this morning in Hong Kong at the Dolby Theatre in the United States. A dazzling array of stars and thrilling moments intertwined, marking a perfect conclusion to the annual film celebration. Here is a complete list of the highlights!

The most anticipated moment is undoubtedly who will take home the Best Actor and Best Actress awards — “Anora,” starring Mikey Madison, swept five awards, including: Best Film, Best Editing, Best Original Screenplay, and also earned the Best Actress crown, while Sean Baker won Best Director, making him the biggest winner of this edition.

Notably, Sean Baker has become the first person in Oscar history to win 4 Academy Awards in one night for the same film.

The film “The Brutalist,” known for its stark aesthetic, is equally impressive, winning multiple technical awards thanks to its unique narrative style and visual impact, including: Best Cinematography, Best Original Score, and Adrien Brody took home the “Best Actor” award, making it a standout at this year’s ceremony.

In addition, Zoe Saldaña from “Emilia Pérez” and Kieran Culkin from “A Real Pain” took home the awards for “Best Supporting Actress” and “Best Supporting Actor.” Zoe Saldaña even expressed her emotions while accepting the award, sharing that she has three-quarters Dominican and one-quarter Puerto Rican heritage, as her grandmother immigrated to the United States. Winning an award for her role, where she sings and speaks in Spanish, is truly meaningful and exhilarating for her.

In the movie “Emilia Pérez,” the song “El Mal” won the award for “Best Original Film Song,” beating out other nominated tracks such as “Mi Camino” from the same film and “The Journey” from “The Messenger.”

“El Mal” was composed by French composers Camille and Clement Ducol, with contributions from film director Jacques Audiard of “A Melody for Emilia.” During the award acceptance, Camille not only hummed the melody of “Sympathy for the Devil” but also highlighted the stories of corruption condemned in both the film and the song, expressing a heartfelt hope that art can continue to be a force for change in the world, which is truly uplifting.

The magic of cinema lies not only in the glory of awards but also in how it touches the hearts of every viewer. Let us look forward to more wonderful works that continue to write the legendary chapters of film!
