The Malaysia Durian Festival 2025 at the Wai Hong Kong Centre will officially kick off on July 12, 2025. This event, the most anticipated gathering for durian enthusiasts each year, will take place once again at the Hotel ICON in Hong Kong, offering diners an unparalleled durian culinary experience. Highlights of this year’s event will feature nearly 50 different buffet delicacies, as well as the introduction of two exclusive durian varieties from Hong Kong, D-Putera King Durian and D-Diraja Royal Durian. This collaboration is a result of Hotel ICON’s partnership with leading brands from the Malaysian durian industry, and these two varieties will be available exclusively at Hotel ICON in Hong Kong.

This year’s Durian Festival not only continues the tradition of featuring the much-loved Musang King and Black Spine durians but also introduces the latest selected varieties for the event, aiming to offer guests the ultimate durian experience. Plus, Hong Kong Harbour has set up a special instant durian service, where professionals use a specialized tool to open the durians on-site, ensuring that guests can taste the freshest and most aromatic durian flesh. Each guest will enjoy a platter of five different durian flesh varieties, including D197 Durian Musang King and D200 Black Thorn, both regarded as top-tier delicacies that durian enthusiasts simply cannot miss.


This year’s Durian Festival offers diners not just a variety of durians to savor, but also a table filled with innovative and diverse durian dishes. Take, for instance, the Musang King Durian Seafood Stuffed Crab Shell, a creation that blends fresh seafood, crab meat, and shrimp mixed with the rich puree of Musang King durian. After being baked, it boasts a golden, crispy exterior while the aroma of durian wafts from within, making it a must-try dish. Another standout creation is the XO Durian Abalone and Snow Fungus Stewed Pigeon Soup, which simmers a medley of ingredients for three hours before adding durian flesh. The soup is sweet and rich in flavor, leaving diners enchanted.

Additionally, the buffet at the Durian Festival is incredibly creative, featuring a variety of durian dishes and even a live cooking station that serves classic Malaysian delights like Penang Assam Laksa, Malaysian-style Bak Kut Teh, and Hainanese Chicken Rice. Whether you’re craving savory bites or sweet treats, you’ll find the essence of durian infused throughout. The durian dessert section is particularly drool-worthy, showcasing a delightful combination of French crepes with durian ice cream, durian pudding, and durian sticky rice balls, all perfect for satisfying the cravings of any durian lover.
