Louis Vuitton has officially announced its entry into the beauty industry, appointing “makeup guru” Pat McGrath as the brand’s Creative Director of Makeup. Together, they will launch the brand’s first makeup collection, La Beauté Louis Vuitton, in 171 years, perfectly blending LV’s century-old craftsmanship with modern aesthetics. This collection is set to debut in the fall of 2025, creating a new chapter in the luxury beauty market!

20 Years of Connection: The Relationship Between Pat McGrath and Louis Vuitton

Pat McGrath’s collaboration with Louis Vuitton has continued since 2014, when she designed the makeup looks for the first collection by the brand’s women’s artistic director, Nicolas Ghesquière. Notably, for the Louis Vuitton 2024 early autumn menswear collection show in Hong Kong, the brand’s creative director, Pharrell Williams, also brought in Pat McGrath to create the makeup for the models.

Pat McGrath, the Creative Director of Louis Vuitton Beauty, stated: “I have worked backstage at Louis Vuitton fashion shows for over 20 years, and I am incredibly excited to witness the birth of La Beauté Louis Vuitton in this new and significant role. Louis Vuitton’s makeup venture embodies extraordinary craftsmanship, limitless creativity, and a spirit of innovation. The makeup market not only values the products but also emphasizes uniquely novel experiences, and our products will open the doors to an unprecedented realm of luxury makeup.”

Pat McGrath’s extraordinary achievements have been widely recognized.

In addition to collaborating with numerous designers and fashion brands such as Louis Vuitton, Pat McGrath also founded her namesake brand, Pat McGrath Labs, in 2015, solidifying her influence in the creative makeup industry. As a legendary figure in makeup, Pat McGrath was awarded the Order of the British Empire in 2014 and became the first and only makeup artist ever to be granted the title of “Dame” by Queen Elizabeth II in 2021.

From Creativity to Innovation: The Birth of La Beauté Louis Vuitton

Since its founding in 1854, Louis Vuitton has maintained an inseparable relationship with beauty. From the luxurious powder boxes and makeup brushes of the 1920s to the exquisite makeup cases custom-made for celebrities, aesthetic elements have been woven into the brand’s development. The Louis Vuitton archives still preserve two exquisite masterpieces dating back to 1925: the Le Milano makeup case, specially crafted for soprano Marthe Chenal, and the refined dressing case designed for Polish composer Jan Paderewski. Additionally, the brand’s earliest designs for women’s handbags were thoughtfully conceived to facilitate the carrying of everyday essentials such as cosmetics.

As the “most influential makeup artist in the world,” Pat McGrath excels at infusing avant-garde creativity into beauty. Louis Vuitton also provides ample space for her to express herself, allowing her to incorporate the brand’s spirit into every product. Pat McGrath dives deep into the brand’s archives, drawing inspiration from classic designs like the Le Milano makeup case, and integrates Louis Vuitton’s travel DNA into modern beauty concepts, creating groundbreaking product lines.

The first makeup collection lineup is revealed.

The first makeup collection, La Beauté Louis Vuitton, will launch 55 lipsticks, 10 lip balms, and 8 eyeshadow palettes, inspired by the LV Roman numeral “55.” This collection perfectly blends LV’s luxurious craftsmanship with Pat McGrath’s signature innovative aesthetics. After four years of development, each piece inherits the brand’s exquisite craftsmanship since 1854, striving for perfection in formulation, texture, and color, showcasing the brand’s unique luxurious style.

In addition, the brand has specially designed a series of exclusive makeup storage accessories, including lipstick organizers and mini travel cases, perfectly embodying LV’s travel DNA! The La Beauté Louis Vuitton collection will officially debut in the fall of 2025, which is truly exciting!

Louis Vuitton Chairman and CEO Pietro Beccari emphasized that La Beauté Louis Vuitton represents the brand’s significant breakthrough in the beauty sector. Employing the same strategy as its fragrance line, the products will be sold exclusively in 116 selected stores worldwide, ensuring their rarity and high-end positioning. In the next five years, the brand plans to continue expanding its beauty product line, creating a comprehensive luxury beauty experience!
