After 45 years of relentless progress, the Hong Kong Dance Company is celebrating an unprecedented dual milestone— the 2025/26 dance season themed around Breaking Boundaries to Discover Myself, Dancing into the Realm, not only marking the company’s 45th anniversary but also witnessing the Children’s and Youth Troupes reaching their 20th anniversary milestone.
This dance season is set to completely overturn traditional frameworks, collaborating with renowned music creator Wong Yat Wa, acclaimed jazz composer Ray Poon, and Hong Kong Film Awards’ Best Art Direction winner Man Nim Chung, among other top artists. They will reinterpret the endless possibilities of dance art from fresh perspectives, seeking authenticity through cross-disciplinary engagement and leaving a heartfelt impression in their movements.
Introduction to Featured Events
The curtain rises on the dance season with the award-winning intangible cultural heritage dance poem The Twenty-Four Solar Terms, which has not only been selected for the China Cultural Festival but will also make its debut in South Korea Hong Kong Week 2025 @ Seoul to showcase the allure of intangible heritage. Following this, three brand new works will follow, each offering a vibrant tribute to pioneers in various artistic fields.


In celebration of Bruce Lee’s 85th birthday, the grand dance drama Martial arts — Bruce Lee’s Law and Infinity, takes center stage as a highlight of the 45th anniversary celebration. Performed by professional dancers with eight years of martial arts training, this production combines the creative vision of artistic director Yang Yuntao, the visual aesthetics in the concept, and jazz elements from Lei Boxi. It showcases a harmonious blend of martial arts and dance, reflecting the unique charm of Hong Kong’s rich cultural confluence.


Dream: Peony Pavilion skillfully merges dance, traditional theater, and technology, coinciding with the 70th anniversary of Peony Pavilion Dream of the Thriving Theatre, innovatively reshaping the classics and infusing new vitality into Chinese culture. Meanwhile, the collaborative masterpiece Between — Wu Guanzhong’s Ink Art, co-organized by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, features Hong Kong artist Kay Tse collaborating with French lighting designer Dominique Drillot and digital imaging designer Sophie Laly, transforming ink art into a flowing language of movement and igniting an artistic dialogue that bridges Eastern and Western cultures.


The grand finale of the dance season, presented by Henderson Land Development, features over 400 young performers alongside professional dancers, celebrating 20 years of the youth troupe with an exuberant and positive journey ahead.
