As kids, we often fantasized about what it would be like to grow up, filled with dreams of freedom and a carefree life. However, stepping into the adult world, with its own aspirations, we quietly learn to follow rules and care about others’ perceptions—especially for girls, who often find themselves subjected to unspoken expectations and norms.
In this era of transformation and rapid change, girls are no longer the silent ornaments, nor do they settle for a life within the castle walls. Thai artist Freen Sarocha, known in Thai as สโรชา จันทร์กิมฮะ, embodies elegance and determination, making her way from the beauty pageant stage to the illustrious Met Gala red carpet. In just four years since her debut, she has shot to fame thanks to her role in the GL drama Pink Theory, and she has become Valentino’s first female ambassador in Thailand, showcasing the diverse identities and limitless possibilities of contemporary women.

Her resilience and radiance, her courage and confidence, are not just the brilliance on screen and fashionable poses; they hold countless exciting stories waiting to be uncovered. This July, let’s come together to deconstruct this essence of Girls Power.
Breaking the Framework of Growth
In Thailand, it seems that adults have already predetermined the career paths for children, with professions like teachers, nurses, doctors, police officers, and military personnel dominating their options, almost as if these are the only dreams children are allowed to aspire to. Freen spoke seriously about his childhood.
As the daughter of a teacher, it was inevitable that there were expectations for me to follow in that career path. Honestly, in Asian or Chinese families, who hasn’t faced such expectations? Parents not only hope for their children to become successful but also wish for them to have a smooth future. These aspirations transform into a kind of blessing for their kids.

How easy is it to ignore these wishes? Yet Freen candidly admits that she knows exactly what kind of person she wants to be and what work she wants to pursue. She attributes her ability to grasp her inner voice to the influence of her mother, Since I can remember, I’ve always lived with my mom. Even when she divorced my dad, it was mostly just her by my side, and I’ve learned so much from her. She never restricted my thoughts; instead, she taught me to be confident and brave in making decisions, allowing me to be my true self without any burdens, having the courage to walk my own path to my dreams..
The understanding, support, and trust from her mother empower her to fully pursue what she loves, which holds extraordinary significance for Freen, especially as a girl. It is this educational approach that has shaped Freen’s independent and self-reliant character. Even when I mess up, she lets me fall and then get back up on my own (laughs).
Dad might think that being a teacher is the best choice, and I understand that parents have expectations for us. However, I believe that everyone has their own thoughts and preferences, and these expectations shouldn’t completely define our life paths. After all, parents can’t be by our side forever (laughs). I’ve always believed that the only person who can ultimately determine my fate is myself. Therefore, we should respect ourselves and acknowledge our worth, finding the value in our existence and the positions where we can truly shine. This kind of perspective is the most precious.
Stepping onto the Star Path
This boldness, willingness to love, and ability to express herself became the cornerstone of every choice she made later on. However, the story of how Freen entered the entertainment industry is quite intriguing — at the age of 18, she participated in the Miss Thailand pageant, but the motivation behind it was unexpected.

I just want to go to Chiang Mai, Freen jokingly remarked that the competition winners would get a trip to Chiang Mai, and being a travel enthusiast, she decided to enter. Although she ultimately only placed in the top 15, achieving her travel dream unexpectedly opened the door to the entertainment industry for her. That competition made me realize that there are many people eager to step onto this stage. It also made me aware for the first time that I need to work harder to improve myself and create more opportunities for myself.
Later, Freen graduated with first-class honors from the Public Relations and Corporate Communication Department of Lan Shih University, thanks to her relentless efforts. To ease her mother’s financial burden, she began taking on advertisements and music videos, gradually paving her way into the entertainment industry.
Starting from small roles in music videos and supporting characters, she has accumulated considerable experience, impressing audiences and garnering positive reviews. By 2022, she starred alongside Becky in Thailand’s first long-form GL drama Pink Theory, portraying a charismatic CEO Sam. With a staggering 800 million views, the duo formed a silver screen couple FreenBecky, skyrocketing to become a phenomenal figure in Thailand’s entertainment industry and attaining unprecedented fame, yet all of this has not been merely a stroke of luck. This requires us to continuously learn, constantly improve, and maintain a humble attitude. I believe everyone has the potential; it’s just that it might not have been discovered yet. However, when we have the chance to be seen, we should give it our all, because we can never predict when the next opportunity will come. Instead of hesitating, let’s charge forward with courage!

In addition to showcasing strong female leadership in the first long-form GL drama in Thailand Sam, the characters in the new work Love That Transcends Time and Space are also Thailand’s first female astronaut. Not only is it her debut performance, but she also has to learn a variety of space-related professional terms and jargon, marking a significant breakthrough in her roles and offering women a fresh perspective. Reflecting on her encounters with various First time, she smiled and said: I think every character is difficult to portray..
For me, the most important aspects of acting are authenticity and naturalness. It’s crucial to flesh out each character, allowing the audience to grasp their emotions, thoughts, and inner worlds, while also feeling the character’s growth as genuine and believable. That’s why I strive to think from the character’s perspective, to ponder and interpret their experiences. Through these roles, I’ve also been able to explore a broader world. Without acting, I might never have understood just how rich and complex a person’s thoughts and feelings can be. Therefore, I hold this profession in high regard and am truly grateful for the opportunity to delve into each character’s inner world.

This year, Freen made a stunning appearance at the Met Gala as the first female Thai brand ambassador for Valentino, wearing a gown designed by Alessandro Michele—an ivory fringed blazer paired with a pink bow-tie shirt, radiating a vintage romantic vibe that instantly captivated everyone in the room.
When I found out I could go to the Met Gala, I was honestly so happy and excited—this opportunity is really rare. Freen can’t help but share, Since the beginning of my collaboration with Maison Valentino, I have been incredibly excited and honored to be a part of this incredible journey. Everyone has been so welcoming, always encouraging me with, “Just be yourself, stay confident, we’re proud of you and thrilled to embark on this journey together.” We’ve done a lot of preparation, and I’ve put in my best effort because standing on that red carpet truly validates my uniqueness.
Girls Power
Always showcasing confidence and sticking to her beliefs in everything she does, this uniqueness is one of Freen’s charms, allowing her to maintain her own style and rhythm both in the performance scene and in the fashion world.
In Freen’s view, the definition of success isn’t about meeting societal expectations but about living your authentic self. No one can define us but ourselves. If we feel that we’ve done our best to be our best selves—whether in our work, health, or other aspects—then as long as we achieve our own goals, that’s more than enough.

I believe that every journey in life is a form of art. To me, art is not about right or wrong; it simply presents beauty, carrying depth and conveying emotions and thoughts in its own way.

Just like one of her admired works by the Thai artist Suntur, which depicts the encounter between a penguin and a polar bear, symbolizing the convergence of the world’s two extremes. Not only do I love the composition, colors, and minimalist style of Suntur’s work, but every time I look at it, I spend a long time trying to understand what he’s expressing. This piece feels like it’s speaking about all the unexpected things in life—things we may have never thought we’d encounter or experience, yet somehow they happen. I never expected to be supported and cherished by so many fans, always there by my side, and I hope everyone continues to follow each chapter of my life. Perhaps one day, we will meet like penguins and polar bears!
