A miracle of construction without steel support! Japan’s tallest wooden building, “Czech Pavilion,” will debut at the 2025 Osaka World Expo.

The internationally renowned event, Expo 2025, is set to open soon, located on the artificial island of Yumeshima in Osaka Bay. The event will last for 184 days and is themed “A Brighter Future Society Blueprint for Life.” It incorporates three core elements: “Saving Lives,” “Empowering Lives,” and “Connecting Lives,” and will feature a variety of exhibition halls, recreational spaces, and performance facilities!

The most eye-catching feature after the unveiling of the designs is the “Czech Pavilion” — not only is the glass spiral structure uniquely designed and awe-inspiring, but it has also become Japan’s tallest unsupported wooden building!

This glass building was designed by Apropos Architects, inspired by the basalt terrain of the Kamenický Šenov region in the Czech Republic. The upward-spiraling dynamic glass structure is constructed using the latest CLT panels, complemented by specially treated insulated glass.

This not only showcases the extraordinary craftsmanship of Czech glass but also incorporates innovative modern design, creating a dreamy Bohemian-style corridor with a unique wooden structure that sets a new record with zero steel support!

This innovative craftsmanship and artistic features not only showcase the profound strength of the Czech Republic in architecture and cultural arts, but also heighten people’s anticipation for the upcoming World Expo.

This is the first time in 20 years that the World Expo returns to Japan, and it is also the first time in 55 years that it has landed in Osaka. It is expected that over 150 countries and 28 million people will participate, along with many interactive experience activities, from workshops to virtual reality adventures, allowing attendees to feel the stories and unique charm behind each exhibit.
