Fast forward 40 years, this art institution has recently announced that it will relocate from the Raspail area to the Royal Palace Square in Paris by the end of 2025!

Since 1994, the Fondation Cartier pour l’Art Contemporain has set a standard for corporate philanthropy in Paris, France, providing artists with a creative space and serving as a bridge between art and the public, dedicated to promoting contemporary art. Quickly approaching its 40th anniversary, this art institution recently announced that by the end of 2025, it will move from Boulevard Raspail to Place de la Concorde in Paris!

Among the most anticipated highlights is Cartier’s invitation to Pritzker Prize-winning master Jean Nouvel to personally design the art space! Throughout his architectural career, Jean Nouvel has designed over 200 projects, including the Arab World Institute, the Torre Agbar in Barcelona, and the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis. He has received numerous prestigious awards, such as the Aga Khan Award, the Wolf Prize in Arts in 2005, and the Pritzker Prize in 2008, all of which are the highest honors in the field of architecture.

This time, he designed a new space covering 8,500 square meters, utilizing movable platforms to enhance the flexibility of the space. He also incorporated large floor-to-ceiling windows to connect the nearby urban landscape—such as Boulevard Saint-Antoine and Rue de Rivoli—and innovatively reinterpreted light and shadow, offering viewers an unprecedented perspective of Paris, while creating a refreshing experiential space for art enthusiasts.

This not only offers a brand new contemporary art exhibition hall, a multifunctional performance venue, and an art education center open to the public, but also serves as an exhibition space. Welcome to this hall of art, where we witness the classics, anticipate the future, and embrace exciting changes together!
